Whether as an appetizer before a main course or just as a snack, hummus is becoming an increasingly common staple in many American diets. The health benefits from a nutritional standpoint are fantastic including high levels of protein and healthy fats. But what I like most about hummus is it’s INSANE versatility! You can literally make hummus taste like anything you like. In this post you’ll see a trio of original, basil pesto, and sriracha hummus…but feel free to make your own with many more ingredients like cilantro-lime, jalapeno, garlic-rosemary, olive, sun dried tomato, etc. The possibilities are truly limitless. AND IT’S SOOOOO EASY!!
- 2 cups Chickpeas drained (reserve liquid)
- 2 ea Garlic Clove minced
- ¼ cup Tahini
- 2 ea Lemon juice only
- 1 tbsp Kosher Salt
- 2 tbsp Olive Oil
- 1 tsp Olive Oil
- 1 tbsp Sriracha optional
- 1 tbsp Pesto optional
Drain chickpeas. Reserve the liquid.
Put chickpeas, garlic, tahini, lemon juice, and salt into food processor.
Pulse until all ingredients begin to puree.
Add olive oil to loosen hummus.
Loosen to desired consistency with reserved chickpea liquid.
Fold in desired flavor (Sriracha or pesto) or just have as is!
Drizzle with olive oil before serving.
