Embracing Freedom, Happiness, and the Power of Belief

Chapter 1: Understanding Beliefs and Their Influence

Beliefs function as an essential component of our existence, much like water for fish. When individuals leap from one belief system, they invariably dive into another. This transition isn’t inherently positive or negative; rather, it is beneficial for individuals to embrace their beliefs when possible. Just as pessimism can taint water, a belief that fosters conscious happiness and kindness creates a clean and enjoyable environment.

I appreciate seeing joyful individuals across various belief systems—be it Christians, atheists, agnostics, scientific materialists, Muslims, philosophers, humanists, or even children who choose to believe (or not) in Santa Claus. They all represent happy beings swimming in their respective waters.

Individuals who recognize that beliefs are just beliefs resemble fish evolving into birds. While they may occasionally plunge back into the water, they are gradually discovering how to soar. They are learning to find joy for any reason—or even for none at all. Regardless of the fundamental nature of “reality,” unanchored optimism can feel like the thrill of wings in flight.

PART II: The Reality-Shaping Nature of Beliefs

Beliefs may simply be beliefs, yet they undeniably shape our realities. Action is crucial, and the journey of life often presents its challenges. The natural friction of living can either hinder or propel us forward. Although this friction is unavoidable, it has the potential to uplift and liberate us. We possess the power to decide whether life brings us joy, and our beliefs play a vital role in this process. After all, ease is reserved for inanimate objects—rocks cannot act and thus exist in a state of inertia. In contrast, we are alive and capable of thriving.

Life is action, and it manifests in our physical reality. Many individuals overlook the significant, albeit often unseen, influence that belief has in shaping our experiences. Our actions continually redefine reality within a feedback loop of belief, which some refer to as “The Secret.”

Responsibility is intertwined with identity; being “response-able” means having the ability to respond. An irresponsible belief, such as “I can’t exercise because I’m not healthy,” leads to tangible deterioration in life quality. Conversely, the more one believes in their own capabilities, the more they can achieve.

Beliefs, being invisible, can lead us to mistakenly think we are hopelessly confined by physical reality. Neglecting to harness the empowering aspect of belief to transform our realities results in increased friction, making life less enjoyable. It becomes challenging to maintain grace and live well when we are burdened by detrimental beliefs that undermine our health and happiness. Adverse beliefs can be truly crushing, while uplifting beliefs can elevate our spirits.

Consider the scene from “Once Upon a Time in Mexico,” where a character confronts Danny Trejo’s hesitant persona, asking, “Are you a MexiCAN or a MexiCAN’T?” After pondering for a moment, he confidently declares, “I’m a MexiCAN!” That line is invigorating!

Danny Trejo truly embodies inspiration!

Beliefs, whether visible or not, possess a magical quality that can turn the impossible into reality. Occasionally, life may deliver a sobering “SPLAT!” when an ice cream cone meets the pavement. Should we laugh or cry in response? Will life defeat us, or will we rise above it? You know “The Secret,” so take action accordingly, magical human!
