# Essential Equipment I Disposed of in 2022 for a Clutter-Free Life

Chapter 1: Rethinking My Possessions
In today's world, technology plays an integral role in our lives, from simplifying household chores to enhancing communication. However, I've come to realize that not all gadgets are essential, and some might even require an upgrade to better serve our needs. This reflection led me to the decision of parting with several pieces of equipment in 2022. Below is a brief overview of what I let go or replaced.
I transitioned from an outdated Samsung A3 to an iPhone 13. The frustration of waiting 10 to 15 seconds for an app to launch was unbearable, so I welcomed the change with open arms.
I also sold my PlayStation 3 to a friend, as I found myself with little time to indulge in gaming. I included my digital account in the deal, knowing I likely wouldn’t return to that console.
Another item I parted with was my robotic vacuum cleaner. I discovered that manually vacuuming with a traditional one was much simpler and more efficient for my needs.
Additionally, I bid farewell to my vintage 2007 iMac. Surprisingly, it found a new home as a music and YouTube player in a garage.
Having purchased a new iPhone, I handed my old one down to my mother and sold it on eBay. I dislike seeing gadgets go unused, so I plan to do the same with my old MacBook once I acquire a new one.
I also got rid of an air purifier that didn’t include a humidifier—I couldn’t even recall why I bought it in the first place, as it had sat idle for over a year.
The electric grill I bought last year was another casualty. After a few months, I reverted to the good old frying pan or oven for cooking, which was not only easier but also less of a hassle to clean due to non-removable panels.
Interestingly, I stopped using the microwave altogether. This change came about somewhat unexpectedly after moving to a new place without one. I quickly adapted and found that reheating food on the stovetop made it taste significantly better.
I sold both a multicooker and a convection oven on eBay; they were in pristine condition but had only been used a couple of times a year. Although it was initially hard to part with them, I recognized they weren't necessary.
Another item I let go was my Apple Watch, which I had worn since 2017. By 2022, I realized it was largely redundant, as I could easily check the time on my phone.
Lastly, I passed a steamer to a friend whose child had just been born. I initially intended to give it away for free, but my friend insisted on paying a small amount. It had taken up valuable space in my compact kitchen, and I rarely used it.
While there are more items I could mention, these were the significant ones I disposed of in 2022. I hope my experience inspires you to evaluate the gadgets and equipment in your own home.
