Exploring October 2022: Holidays, Insights, and Inspirations
Written on
Chapter 1: October Observances
October is a month filled with significant holidays and celebrations, such as World Vegetarian Day (October 1), World Animal Day (October 4), World Food Day (October 16), International Animation Day (October 28), and Halloween (October 31).
A Book I'm Currently Engaged With
At present, I am delving into “Alchemy: The Surprising Power of Ideas That Don’t Make Sense” by Rory Sutherland.
Description: This intriguing book highlights how much of our decision-making is influenced by unconscious desires rather than rational thought. It explores the potency of placebos and our attraction to the beautiful and the absurd. To truly sway people’s choices, one must appeal to emotions rather than logic. The most effective ideas evoke feelings more than they provoke thoughts.
Section 1.1: Branding Insights
An essential lesson I've gleaned about branding is that customer loyalty is cultivated similarly to personal relationships, rather than through mere loyalty programs. Research indicates that two key personality traits of brands—warmth and competence—account for nearly 50% of customer loyalty, purchase intent, and likelihood of recommendation. However, in the realm of luxury goods, while competence remains crucial, warmth tends to take a backseat, reflecting the often distant nature of wealth.
Section 1.2: Inspirational Campaigns
One campaign that left a significant impact on me is Heinz's “New Pasta Sauce.” This campaign effectively utilizes a negative slogan, “Ridiculously late,” and balances it with a positive outcome, “Ridiculously good.” The design features ample white space that enhances the clarity of the message and the product.
Chapter 2: Thought-Provoking Quotes
A quote that has resonated with me is:
“Brands matter when, and only when, they matter to consumers. They’re an asset to a company when, and only when, they hold meaning and carry significance within minds and lives.”
