# Humorous Insights on Quarantine Life Amidst COVID-19

Chapter 1: The Unexpected Illness

One Friday evening, I returned home from work feeling a slight tickle in my throat. My wife had already tucked the kids in for the night, and despite my discomfort, we enjoyed a couple of glasses of wine while hosting an impromptu Zoom gathering with friends.

The next morning, however, my throat felt significantly worse. Swallowing felt like attempting to gulp down shards of glass, and I was also running a fever.

Everyone in my household quickly jumped to the conclusion that I had contracted the Coronavirus.

My wife, Karen, sprang into action. Within moments, she was on the phone with medical professionals and relatives, scouring the internet for health advice. A thorough cleaning of our home was swiftly organized.

I was put into quarantine, much like Chris Cuomo, the CNN host who famously isolated himself after testing positive for the virus.

My 7-year-old exclaimed, “I’m heading downstairs to see Daddy!”

To which my 5-year-old replied, “Don’t go down there! He’s got COVID-19!”

At one point, my wife dashed outside and paid someone $200 to mow our lawn for the next month. It was evident she was preparing for the worst.

Chapter 2: The Test and Its Aftermath

Eventually, I underwent ‘The Test’. It was quite an uncomfortable experience, resembling what Drake described—having a gigantic Q-Tip shoved deep into my nostrils.

Fortunately, the results came back negative within a day. I did not have the virus! Fantastic news.

However, my employer insisted I remain at home for two weeks, citing a 30% chance that the test could have been inaccurate. I found this perspective somewhat pessimistic. What about the 70% likelihood that I was in the clear?

My wife echoed these concerns. What if the test was indeed flawed?

Thus, even though my fever and sore throat had completely vanished, I was stuck at home for two weeks. Statistically, the chances of me actually being infected were minimal, but with everyone on high alert, I opted to ride it out in the basement.

During that time, I settled in—watching television, napping, snacking, browsing the internet, and playing video games.

In short, it was a slice of heaven.
