# Revealing 4 Key Trends from Recent Crypto Twitter Research

Chapter 1: Insights from Twitter Polls
In the past week, I initiated several polls on Twitter to assess opinions and interests concerning personal finance, economic conditions, and various investment avenues. The findings may surprise you.
Here are four significant observations:
Economic Sentiment is Grim
The current sentiment regarding the U.S. economy is notably pessimistic, with a negative outlook surpassing the positive by 18.6%.
Growing Enthusiasm for Bitcoin
In spite of this bleak economic perspective, or possibly as a response to it, there has been an uptick in interest surrounding Bitcoin investments.
The overall sentiment remains cautious; a plurality of respondents (193 votes) leaned towards “buy.” The choice of “buy or hold” outperformed “sell or avoid” by a margin of 44.4%.
Moderate Interest in Stocks
The U.S. stock market performed well in July, yet it has faced challenges throughout the year, similar to cryptocurrencies. Interest in stocks remains favorable but less robust than Bitcoin. This poll garnered 69 fewer votes than previous ones, resulting in a smaller plurality (140 votes) opting for “buy.” The next most popular response, “hold,” accumulated 95 votes. “Buy or hold” surpassed “sell or avoid” by 27%.
Disinterest in Precious Metals
Unsurprisingly, my audience appears to favor Bitcoin over traditional investments like gold and silver. The choice of “avoid” was the most popular, receiving 115 votes, while “buy” attracted 75 votes. The “buy/hold” option narrowly beat “sell/avoid” by a slim margin of 1.6%.
If there are apocalyptic expectations, my audience seems to trust Bitcoin more than gold and other precious metals.
Sample Size Considerations
According to Statista, Twitter boasts over 237 million monthly active users. My audience comprises approximately 18,000 followers, primarily from English-speaking regions, as illustrated below:
As such, my following represents a very small sample size. The majority of my content leans towards cryptocurrencies and NFTs, alongside discussions on traditional finance and economic topics. A poll attracting over 300 votes generally indicates stronger interest than the average poll I conduct.
