What Makes You Excited About Sharing Content?

Chapter 1: The Importance of Context in Social Sharing
In today's world, social media sharing has reached a point of chaos. It's crucial to reflect on your motivations before sharing content.
Here’s an example of a recent video that illustrates this struggle. The words "inspiration" and "friendship" are intended to provide context, but do they really? The video description and thumbnail offer no real insight into what the viewer can expect. "Definitely worth watching"? Really? What is it? A bird? A plane? An odd animal encounter? Why should I even care, dear "friend"? And the fact that it’s from March 2010? Wow, it must be a classic! Vintage YouTube "friendship" clips are truly the best... said no one with sincerity.
I could click the link and squander 2:34 of my life that I can’t reclaim, but I don't feel inclined to do so. My curiosity is piqued, but not enough to prioritize your 2010 "friendship" video. Thanks, but no thanks. I’m not cynical; I genuinely hope people can improve their sharing habits. It reminds me of a friend who would incessantly call me to ask, "Did you see the email I just sent?"
Section 1.2: The Social Sharing Golden Rule
Some of the worst offenders are those check-ins on Gowalla/Foursquare that lack additional details, such as "I’m at McDonald's in Tempe, AZ" or "I just ousted the Mayor of Starbucks on Cedar Street."
So here’s a new social sharing guideline (and I’m reminding myself as well, as I tend to tweet a lot of nonsense): Before you hit "share," "comment," or "check-in," ask yourself, "What excites you about this?" and try to include that extra detail in your post.
For example: "I’m at Whole Foods Downtown, enjoying a 15-minute chair massage on a Friday afternoon. We’ve almost made it to the long weekend."
This adds several layers of excitement: Friday, massage, and Whole Foods. It provides more to engage with. And yes, it’s that simple. If you’re going to check in or share a funny link, tell us why you’re excited about it. Include the human element that an automated bot cannot replicate.
Please, enrich your shares with a bit of your personal story. If you can’t articulate why something is exciting, it might be worth reconsidering whether to share it at all.
Chapter 2: Enhancing Engagement Through Context
In this video titled "WHAT INTERESTS YOU ABOUT THIS ROLE? (The PERFECT ANSWER to this Tricky JOB INTERVIEW QUESTION!)", discover the nuances of articulating your passion for a role during job interviews.
Another insightful video, "WHAT INTERESTS YOU MOST ABOUT THIS POSITION (Example Answer)," provides practical examples to help you express your enthusiasm and fit for the job.
As you engage with content, remember to be authentic and thoughtful in your sharing.
